Not only has she brought her daughter along on the British leg of her tour, she has named it the Mrs Carter Show World Tour in tribute to rapper husband Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter.
She performed at London’s 02 Arena last night and, while she admits she has found it a challenge to juggle her career and motherhood, the 31-year-old says she wants to become a mum again.
She says: “Definitely I would like to have more children. Motherhood has changed everything. You see things a bit differently after you give birth and my biggest job now is to protect my child.”
Her daughter Blue Ivy is 16 months old.
Beyonce says: “After giving birth there’s a moment of rediscovery when you are making sure you still have goals and take care of yourself as a woman.
“That was something I struggled with – making sure I was still this strong woman and also making time for my child and balancing the two.”
Beyonce became Mrs Carter when she tied the knot with Jay-Z, 43, five years ago, and it is clear she relishes showing off her married name on the tour.
Speaking at the Corinthia Hotel shortly before she is due to go on stage in London, she says: “I’m calling it that because I feel I have grown and I am a married woman. It is my name, it is who I am and I am proud of it. It is my daughter’s name and it feels like who I am right now.”
And although she has placed a ban on photographers for her tour, she gladly poses for pictures once her lighting crew arrange the spotlights.
In a green jacket and flowered trousers with a black snake diamond bracelet on her wrist, her tawny hair hangs down almost to her waist and she is friendly and talkative as she discusses her family life and career.
It seems Beyonce can do no wrong career-wise at the moment.
She had her fourth consecutive No. 1 album with the release of 4 in 2011, she appeared at President Obama’s second inauguration and starred in the Super Bowl halftime show at the New Orleans Superdome.
As well as continuing her highly successful solo career and branching out into films, Beyonce’s looks have also earned her millions as a spokeswoman and model, with ad campaigns for L’Oreal, Tommy Hilfiger and Pepsi.
She also has her own clothing line and perfumes.
But being a superstar mum is not always easy and Beyonce says she misses being able to go shopping for nappies without pictures from security cameras finding their way online.
She says: “But I feel this is temporary and my public life when I’m performing on stage is just a few hours of the day. The rest of the day I’m with my family, I’m changing diapers and I’m with my mother who reminds me, ‘Girl, you’re not a Queen’. So it’s good to have the balance.
“Balancing is something I am struggling with, but I am trying to smell the roses and make sure I don’t work so hard that I don’t enjoy the blessings that are around me every day.”
But while she is reminded she is not royalty in real life, she is about to play a queen in her new movie Epic.
She is the voice of Queen Tara in the animated adventure comedy, starring alongside Colin Farrell, who plays General Ronin.
Together they battle to save their forest from the evil Boggans, who wish to destroy it.
Beyonce says: “It’s about a massive battle between good and evil, set against a huge landscape you’ve never before experienced in a film.
“Everything in Epic is big – the action, the stakes, the characters, but at the same time they’re all really relatable.
“What I like most about Tara is she sets a great example and is a role model for the younger characters. I was attracted to the film because of the message and because I was soon to be a mother.
I WAS pregnant when I first went to the studio and I thought the movie would be something that would leave a legacy for my daughter.
“So doing the movie was the first thing I did after giving birth. The character had so much heart and emotion and I was so filled with emotion and hormones I literally cried in some scenes.
“There is a scene where a young girl admires Queen Tara and says ‘She’s awesome’ and her mom says, ‘Baby, she’s the queen. I don’t know if you will ever be the queen’.
“And I just thought about when I was a little girl and saw Whitney Houston sing the National Anthem and I told my mom, ‘One day I’m going to do that’ and my mom was like, ‘Yeah baby, whatever’.”
She pauses and laughs, adding: “But you never know what’s going to happen in your life.”
Her own fairy tale began when she entered a talent show at the age of five near her home in Houston.
The original members of the group that would become Destiny’s Child got together at school when Beyonce was nine years old and she was already writing songs.
They appeared on a television talent contest and lost, prompting Beyonce’s father to leave his job as a medical equipment salesman and start guiding the group’s career full-time.
Their first album, Destiny’s Child, was released in 1998 and was a huge success, as was their next album, The Writing’s On The Wall, despite controversy over changes in the group’s line-up.
Her father, Mathew Knowles, came in for criticism for his alleged single-minded dedication to his daughter over the interests of her fellow band members.
Two of the original line-up accused him in lawsuits – which were finally settled out of court – of “greed and insistence on control” and said “the promotion of his daughter’s interests became the dominant force in Destiny’s Child”.
Beyonce initially fiercely defended him but they later became estranged, something she chronicled earlier this year in her HBO autobiographical documentary Life Is But A Dream.
Now, after appearances in Goldmember, Dreamgirls, Cadillac Records and Epic, Beyonce is keen to continue her movie career.
She has another role lined up in One Hit Wonders, in which she stars with Gwyneth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon as three singers who try to revive their solo careers by joining together in one group.
But filming cannot begin until later this year, after her world tour.
For her O2 Arena concerts she has taken over the dressing rooms used by entire sports teams and decorated them to her liking.
She also has a routine she goes through before each concert, which she explains in detail.
She says: “I say a prayer with everyone in the band, we do a stretch, I sit in my massage chair while they do my hair and make-up and I have an hour of peace and I have a playlist that I listen to every day. That’s my ritual and it takes me a

It’s already four months into the year and a lot has been happening on the entertainment scene. What have you been up to this year?
We just finished shooting a movie called “Gold Digging”. It’s a Rukky Sanda movie and it has myself, Rukky, Yvonne Nelson, IK Ogbonna, Venita Akpofure, Denrele and Sexy Steel. Before that, I finished a movie titled “Keeping My Man” with Ramsey Nouah, Monalisa Chinda and Ini Edo.

Take me down memory lane. How did you get into the acting profession?
Acting is something I've always had a passion for. When I was young, producers and directors would use our house to shoot movies. Sometimes they gave me minor roles like asking me to cry in a movie. Years later, I moved to University of Calabar to study Law but I was still into the Arts. I presented a TV show and was part of the Dance Drama group. In 2010, I emerged first runner up at the Mr. Nigeria contest which gave me a good platform to launch my acting career. That was when I landed my first major movie role in ‘Ladies Men’. But before then, I was in some TV productions like ‘Secrets & Scandals’, ‘Hope Bay’ and ‘Happy Family’. I’ve also featured in ‘In The Cupboard’, ‘True Citizens’, ‘Weekend Getaway’, ‘Lovelorn’ and ‘AY’s Crib’. God has really been faithful to me. I’ve just had a lot to do here and there.

You've not been acting professionally for so long yet you've gotten some recognition such as the Most Promising Male Act for 2012 Best of Nollywood Awards. How does that make you feel?
I feel humbled. Like the Bible says, “The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong”. In this short time I’ve been around, there has been so much buzz. I don’t even know what I do, I am my biggest critic. But it’s humbling when I come out and people recognize my works. I believe God strongly and I hold Him close.

I get the feeling that you are quite religious.
I am very religious. My Mum is an Evangelist, my Dad is an Elder. If I go to hell, I will feel bad because of my religious background. I grew up in a strong, vibrant Christian home, the type where you join the choir as a kid and if you do something wrong, my Mum would say “I would report you to God”.

Do you exercise your religious belief in every aspect of your life and career?
Everything I do is about God. I am at a place where I don’t do anything without asking “God, is it OK if I do this?” I see a lot of young people who’ve had their lives cut short, people having plane crashes. I travel a lot, I am not holier or better than them but God protects me. It’s not by my power, it’s by His Grace that I exist.

I’m sure you must have studied hard to obtain a Law Degree from the University. Do you have any plans of working as a Lawyer?
My Law degree is in my freezer, chilling. As the saying goes “strike the iron when it is hot”, now that my market is selling in Nollywood and entertainment, let me be striking this iron now. Entertainment is my thing and Acting is a career on its own. When people ask me what I do, I say “I’m an Actor”. They expect me to say more, but I say “I am an Actor, that’s all.”

This is probably because they get the idea that you have a lot of free time. You are present at almost every red carpet and major event within and outside the country and people want to know why?
People get it twisted a lot. I’ve learnt to respect people for what they do and I think people should do the same too. As an entertainer, being seen and heard is part of your job description. If I say let me package myself out of the scene, I will package myself out of business. I have an obligation and a moral standing to be at such events.

Could you explain some of these obligations?
If you see me at a fashion show like ‘Music Meets Runway’, it’s because I am a model and I was invited as a guest of honour. If you see me at a comedy show like ‘AY Show’, I act in AY’s crib so I have to be there.

Uti is my brother and my friend who has been there for me through thick and thin. What a lot of people don’t know is that we have a lot in common. He is a model, I am a model; he is an actor, I am an actor. Most times, we don’t even go together to events but I can’t see him outside and act as if I don’t know him. If people want to misconstrue it, then happy thinking to them.

We were in Ghana recently and the President of Ghana saw Uti at the Airport and recognized him. You can’t hate on success.

Talking about refuting, you kinda took it hard on Twitter recently when in response to a Tweet “Are you truly Uti Nwachukwu’s gay partner?” you replied “Did your father truly molest you when you were a child?” Where did that come from?

I like to keep my life private. The records are there, I don’t have to prove anything. I’m not a gym rat. I just eat right and drink lots of water. Personally, I think I am factory fitted like this. I don’t go out of my way to do anything extraordinary.

There are over 7 accounts in my name on Facebook and they are not mine! My personal page is already full with over 5,000 likes so I opened a fan page which is Alexx Ekubo. Most times, I use two X’s in my name. On Twitter I use @alexxekubo and on Instagram, Keek and Cinemagram I also use Alexx Ekubo. But recently, I’ve been getting complains of people using these fake accounts to dupe innocent people. A girl munched some chats and showed me on Twitter how someone impersonated me and collected money from her to meet me at a film school. People should please take not of this.

It hurts me every time I remember that four innocent young men were brutally murdered in broad daylight and it was recorded and put on YouTube for the whole world to see. It hurt me that the dreams of Tekena, Ugo, Lloyd and Chidiaka was brutally cut short. It hurts me that in Nigeria today, people see an accident and the first thing they do is bring out their cameras and take pictures and videos. If warlords like Charles Taylor can be tried in a court of Law, I don’t see what these boys did that people had to beat and burn them on the streets. You don’t even treat animals like that.

Snoop Dogg the rapper set to return to T in the Park
THE artist formerly known as Snoop Dogg is returning to T in the Park.
Snoop Lion, his latest stage name, will join main stage headliners including Rihanna and Mumford & Sons at Balado, Kinross, in July.
Festival director Geoff Ellis said: “Snoop Dogg is a true legend and one of the most influential rap stars of all time.
“His first and only T in the Park performance so far back in 2005 was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our 20-year history.
“Snoop is a phenomenal live act and I can’t wait to see what he’s got in store for us this year.”
George Kyle of Tennent’s Lager said: “T in the Park continues to attract some of the greatest artists in the world and Snoop Dogg is no exception.”
Having changed his name ahead of the release of his reggae-inspired album, Reincarnated, Snoop has also revealed he has reconciled with Suge Knight.
The pair fell out after Snoop left Knight’s Death Row records after accusing him of involvement in the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur.
Snoop said: “I think time heals all wounds.”
